Baptism seems like such a simple concept… but when you look at history, multitudes of people have been martyred for the cause of baptism! Although the act of baptism is simple, it’s important that it’s performed correctly and by the proper authority. Baptism is not for the purpose of salvation, but instead, it is God’s chosen way for believers to identify themselves with Christ. It is a picture of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection and the first step that God desires for his children to take after salvation!
“After many painful trials, which none can know, but those who are taught to relinquish a system in which they had been educated, I settled down in the full persuasion, that the immersion of a professing believer in Christ is the only Christian baptism.” – Adoniram Judson
“Indeed, baptism is a vow, a sacred vow of the believer to follow Christ. Just as a wedding celebrates the fusion of two hearts, baptism celebrates the union of sinner with Savior.” – Max Lucado
“Baptism is an outward expression of an inward faith.” – Unknown Author
“A man who knows that he is saved by believing in Christ does not, when he is baptized, lift his baptism into a saving ordinance. In fact, he is the very best protester against that mistake, because he holds that he has no right to be baptized until he is saved.” – Charles H. Spurgeon
